Hey guys. I have a question. May be stupid or not but I'm still learning here to cut me some slack. I have the opportunity to buy a LS185B that had a seized Iveco engine. The guy got 80% done with installing a running Perkins motor before he figured out that it rotates the wrong way. So now he's trying to unload this thing for little more that scrap price. I know this may be a ridiculous question but what are my options here? As I understand it, a motor that rotates the wrong way is worthless so my only option would be to try and sell the Perkins and buy a Iveco to install. Agree/Disagree? Thanks!

I guess I should mention that I have seem some information on how to reverse the direction of the pump gear. Has anyone done this? Is this a possible solution to running a motor that turns in the opposite direction as the stock motor?

Not sure how you'd go with reversing the direction of the motor, BUT you can generally reverse the direction of the pumps.
How mechanically inclined are you?
Pumps are made so you can run them in either direction with swapping parts. The drive pumps should be easy, the wear plates need swapping around. The hardest part will be the hydraulic pump. It will no doubt be a gear pump, these can be a bit harder than vane pumps, but still doable.
I'd see what i could get an engine that rotates correctly and what i could get for the runner you have now. If they work out to be close enough to the same, you may just want to get the different engine. If you can't get a suitable engine, you may have no choice but to swap the pump internals.

Thanks for the advice! I haven't seen much when looking for what motors people are swapping into the LS185's. Do you know anything that people have used other that the Ivecos?

Here are links to a couple pictures. He says he had a good set of wheels but it's missing the bucket, 1 "tilt cylinder" and the seat. Wants $2k. http://imgur.com/5lgIbi0 http://imgur.com/5lgIbi0

For 2k, you should be able to get that for the engine.
I guess it all goes on how much time you are willing to putinto this project too.
