Hi does anyone know how to start the engine without the harness? it is a diesel so it just has to swing then start ?? but is there a electronic valve on the diesel pump that first has to open? and it also has on alternator so should there be one on ?? never started it yet ,since it has been standing for more than 3 years... thanks

If its warm all you need for the engine to start is a fuel supply and to crank the starter by jumping terminals. Cold weather requires using the glow plugs first. The alternator doesn't need to be hooked up for it to run.
To shut it down there's a shutdown solenoid on the back side of the engine or you can turn off the fuel.

The valve on the pump will turn the fuel on and off, you may need to put power into it to start it. Other than that, diesels are very simple, provide fuel, heat (glow plugs) and a starter.
