Got a older bobcat 630 skid loader. Had been parked for several years. Wouldnt not run so decided to clean carburator out on it. After taking carburator off and cleaning it and putting back to together found it was warped so took it off and trued it up. Put new gasket on. Went to start and nothing. Has spark on all 4 cylinders. Finally got to run by pouring gas down the carburator. But will not stay running. Took carburator off again and checked. Bowl was full of fuel. Everyhting looks good. Have done lots of carburators before and have never had this issue. I am lost on what to try next.

Have you checked the line between the fuel tank and the carb for blockage? Sometimes they will collapse internally and you will not see the blockage. You could also have blockage right at the tank outlet.

Yes replaced all fuel line and fuel filter

Making a couple of assumptions here……I believe that is the Wisconsin VH4D in that machine and if so it is running the little single jet Zenith carb. My biggest problem with that carb is always debris getting stuck in the jet….simple fix if so, easy to pull that jet and check without pulling the entire carb. Just a thought.

Also………manual fuel pump or electric? I hated the manual fuel pumps so much I threw them at the neighbor kids and replaced with electric. Only needs 3 lbs of pressure but if the lobe on the cam is worn at all or the diaphragm in the pump is weakened, you won't get the pressure.

If you have fuel in the bowl, then everything up to that point should be good. I (also) think there is a blockage inside of the carb. When the engine is running / cranking, it should pull fuel in by vacuum. If that passage is blocked where fuel can not be drawn out of the bowl & through the jet, then the engine will not run. It is just about all that it can be. I do like the idea of adding an electric fuel pump as well. It just seems so easy to verify that you have fuel pressure in the future. I'd install a small fuel gauge (somehow) onto that fuel line as well to help even more if this problem ever arises again.
