In need of a seat for recently acquired 440b. Present seat is a two piece of plywood covered with minimal padding and vinyl. Back is secured to cab but the bottom plywood has delaminated and is not secured. Is this the OEM seat for this vintage machine and what is recommended as a replacement.

That doesn't sound OEM, and I doubt that Bobcat would mount via the back rather than the bottom.
The go to site for replacement seats is Surplus Center ; that link will take you directly to the relevant seats for your application. They are quite good at describing mounting location and hole distances, so if you have an existing pattern you should be able to match it.
While you're there, have a nose-about, as it has a lot of other goodies.

Even ebay, look for forklift semi-suspension seats. Most come with universal mouting hardware too, so it's a one seat fits all.

I replaced mine with a universal lawn mower tractor seat. I had to drill a few new holes in the mounting plate, but it works just fine. Cheers - SR
