Should the safety bar stay up (and catch) if I lift it all the way up? That would make it easier to get in/out. I can lift mine but it does not stay up.

Two kinds of lifting arrangements that I know of: a spring, and a gas-charged strut. I've had to replace the strut on my 751 a couple of times. Ain't cheap, and I can't find a nice auto-store replacement. :-) ---RC

If its spring loaded you may just need new springs, they do get sad after a while. SOmetimes the tabs wear and you need to weld them up and grind back to get them to click in place.

I have no springs or anything like that
