I am thinking of installing a weld on or bolt on thumb for my skid. Don't need/want the whole grapple the full length of bucket, just thumb. Mainly for use of logging, no brush work at all. Was wondering if anyone here has ever just bolted one up in center of bucket, compared to welding permanent? I would only be using it in fall/spring here in southern Minnesota, as stated, just logging.......Been doing some searching on Net, is there a decent MFG with a fair priced/good quality grapple thumb? They seem to be around that $350-$400 range which I feel is fair, with ram. Thanks for input, Bruce

I doubt that the average Bobcat bucket could stand up to the kind of twisting a single, centre mounted grapple would put on it. Most that I've seen are built pretty light. There are a lot of grapples on the market. In the long run they would probably be cheaper.
