Hello fellas: Just got around to hooking up my log splitter to the S185 awhile back and works sweet. Plenty fast and more then enough power. I would like to possibly ease pressure on my splitter though. While BC is about 1/2 throttle and splitter is not splitting a log or on the return stroke, pressure gauge on splitter inlet is about 500 psi. I'll assume because of shear volume of fluid from BC, which is not on high flow, just variable flow. Lines are 1/2 to/from BC. I suppose I could throttle down BC, but would like to know other options, or is it even an issue? Work ports on splitter valve valve are 1/2", inlet/outlet are I believe 3/4" and are bushed down to 1/2" for the line to the BC if I remember. Just leave as is or a better option out there? Thanks, Bruce

I have a splitter on the tractor and just run that at fast idle speed , same with the backhoe on the skidsteer.

As long as your splitter valve is rated for about 2300 psi you won't have any problems. The pressure relief valve will take care of any spikes. Just run your machine at idle, burn less fuel.

I have been running at idle or just above and works just fine. Yes a little slower, but I am getting older! Thanks!

I too wouldn't really worry about it. If the control block or hoses were getting excessivly hot, it means they are too small for the oil supply. I personally wouldn't be worried about the back pressure, the aux lines always seem to have a few hundred of psi behind them even when they aren't doing anything,
