I have a Bobcat S175. Battery tests fine. Alternator taken to o'reilly and tests fine. Ran new wire from alternator. Issue: battery gets fully charged and skidsteer runs for 8 hrs ish and then dies. Can jump start and run until has so little power that it wont run hydraulics and locks up. Also, when charging battery the clamps get extremely hot and cannot touch. Gotta be something there. Stumped. Any suggestions?

The clamps on the battery its self?
Any point of heat, you have high resistance, these points will need a good cleaning with a wire brush.

remove neg batt cable. place old school test light (ONE WITH A BULB)(NEED THE AMP DRAW) between neg cable and neg post. if it lights you got a draw pull fuses one at a time. light goes out you have isolated the circuit. narrow it down from there. (side note) the reason for old school is in the modern age youre always gonna have a slight draw (keeps computer /radio memory> a meter wont tell the true tale. you can get fancy and buy amp clamp or. place an incandescent bulb (you can see its brightness you can feel the heat you can smell it when it gets hot.
