1500 hours. left machine sit for a couple days and when i went back it was dead- nothing no lights no noises. i jump started it off my truck and when i disconnected the cables the machine died instantly. i jumped it again and let cables sit on for a couple minutes- when i disconnected them machine ran for a bit then turned off- did this again and was able to load truck, turn loader off and turn it back on. i wonder if it will be dead when i get there today. is this a bad alternator? how to check/test?

check your battery terminals first , pull them apart and clean them ( at block and starter terminals also) , then look at your batterys voltage, remember it , put a slow charger on it over night ,reconnect and then look at voltage again should be over 12.5 volts, try to start , if it starts look at voltage again should be in the 14.5 volt range , if so alternator is good , battery is most likely problem. It would help if battery it load tested also. Some batterys will show good voltage but can not deliver amps required to crank.

after rereading question , I do not think it is battery or alternator but something in the engine controls, which I know not much of.

maybe I was right to begin with on the third thought.
yesterday i went to the machine- got in and turned the key- split second nothin and then it cranked over and started. tried several ties and same thing- it seems delayed off the key? i didnt have much time so i didnt run the machine. it will be interesting as it will sit for 2 weeks while i am away to see what happens when i get back- once i return i will pull the connections apart and do a bit of maintenance. thanks!

Could the starting delay be a bad connection in the switch?
Being computer sontrolled, it could be lots of things, hopefully it is all sorted now though.
