Running an additional hydraulic component?

I'm building a log splitter and will use the skid's pressure and return lines to run the ram. I'm trying to figure out a way that I could also have a 4-way wedge that is height adjustable. I'm assuming I could do that with another hydraulic cylinder. How would a guy plumb that so that you could operate the extra cylinder from inside the cab?

Put an electric controlled diverter vavle on the attachment and run a toggle switch to the cab. This how mutlpe functions are done one factory attachments.

You need a solenoid selector valve. Some thing like THIS VALVE from Surplus Center.
The valve linked above is rated for only 6 gallons per minute. (This may be a misprint since they have another valve with SAE 8 ports rated at 15 gallons per minute.)
We have used one of these valves when we converted a Western Vee Plow to a skidsteer. We needed to be able to control each side of the Vee separately.
HERE is the instruction sheet for this valve that shows how it is connected and wired.

I pulled out Surplus Center's 2010 catalog and that part number (9-5117-A) was rated at 15 gallons per minute.
I would call and verify that the part has not changed if you are interested. If the valve is only rated for 6 GPM it will slow down the splitter and will create a lot of heat in the hydraulic fluid due to increased friction.
You may have to look at Part Number 9-7738-A. It is rated at 20 GPM but is also twice the price...
