For some time now, my Mustang MTL16 has to warm up before the hydraulics will be gin to work. I originally thought it was a safety switch, which I replaced, but that is not it. It has to run for some time before any of the hydraulics will work or it will move. I can tell it is that something has to warm up, in part, because as it gets colder, it has to run longer before it will operate. Once it gets going, it is fine. One theory has been that it is a loose electrical connection that starts to work once the rig heats up, but I can't find it.

Does anyone else have any ideas on trouble shooting this?

are you using the suggested hydro oil for your area? to heavy weight oil might cause this issue. I have seen it when universal tractor fluid is used in something that needs aw-32 in a power steering pump.

Several years ago i had a MTL20 that would kinda do the same thing it wouldn't always move or raise the boom when started. sometimes u would have to rev to full throttle, but once it started working it worked great. my charge pressure was staying to low, i figured out that i was loosing charge pressure thru the 1 of the servo piston seals, the piston had worn into the hydro pump housing, ended up sleeving the housing, took care of my faults. i would check charge pressure, if it is low u are probably loosing it somewhere

Thanks for the tips. It will take me a bit to investigate all of that, but the leak is most likely. The oil is fairly new. We're in a moderate climate (PNW) and the oil is the recommended 30W oil. Water may also be a possibility as it was replaced due to a breakage, but was not purged and replaced, though I will see if the recent maintenance included replacement. If the maintenance included changing this oil, I'm sure it was purged properly.

The other day it finally would not move even after fully warming up. Turns out it was the safety relay. My mechanic figured it out. Pulled the relay and refreshed all the solders on the relay board and it works fine.
