Yesterday I took a look at a Case 1835B since the specs showed it had a similar footprint but was twice the machine as my little old Hydra Mac. The machine was fine and in pretty decent conditon for 3500 hours and was at the low end of “normal“ for asking price. But as I looked at it, it never grabbed me enough to pull the trigger.
I'm sure most of that is because mine is currently spread out across five counties in parts and a lot of work to get it put back together, and my progress with it has been slower than a herd of snails. If I didn't have mine already and if the Case already had aux. hydraulics I would have jumped on it. Oh well. These deals come and go, then come around again so if I think I need to step up in the future maybe I'll be in a more comfortable position to do so.
I guess it just kind of hit me that what I keep wanting to do with my project is to turn it into something more like the 1835B. Kind of taking the waay over yonder long way around on a machine which can only get halfway there at best. In the end I'll like mine when it's done. I made a good decision to pass at this time. I need to haul another stray home like I need a hole in the head.
