repowered 530 with B&S vanguard now doesn't charge battery

finished repowering bobcat 530, removed entire original wire harness. Two wires coming from new engine, one to battery positive, second to where?? I've wired it to the keyswitch and runs great used for several hours. next day (new) battery was dead. I also set the multimeter Vdc and red lead to battery positive and black lead to negative while running at idle shows 13.3 Vdc. Thoughts? Seems simple to wire only two wires, but have not found a schematic to reference.
 
I have had B&S engines with extra wires like that. Mine had +12 to charge the battery, the other was 12vac to power lights. Could it be 12vac?

ok, i rewired and all working and charging 13.3V @800rpm. Getting ready to mount and wire two lights, then should be done.

well cold weather set in, won't turnover enough to start. New 540cca battery isn't getting it done!! Can the starter hable a larger cca battery? Do i need something to warm the oil and pump??

Yes, it can handle a bigger battery. The important thing is it is 12 volts, the more amps you have the better. I am in northern WI. and I put the battery with the most amps I can put in everything around here for the winter months. As long as it's 12 volt and physically fits the box or tray go for it. But, I would think 540 cca should do it for a vanguard. Make sure your battery is good/charged and your cables are in good condition.

I am the one that put a water colled briggs in a 500 . They take alot of choke and a lot of cranking . I keep mine in a heated shop and it still takes full choke . I saw somewhere that briggs rebuilders recomend 0 w 30 Mobile 1 so thats what I use . Gearbox

the manual calls for 10w40 motor oil in the tank, but after hour normal use, i start losing hydraulic power. Screechs really loud, Cavitation? Why not hydraulic oil?

Does it have a suction line filter?
My 731 had one mounted in the port block that mounted to the hydraulic pump. It was hidden in the block, so you don't know it's there.
