Been about a year since I been on here but now that I have repaired my leaking down tilt cylinder and stopped the fuel leak, I have decided to repaint my 743. So far I have pressured washed it 3 times using purple power and oven cleaner. I have given up on getting it any cleaner as I keep finding more grease. Today I painted the rear cover and cage, the wind was blowing like 20 mph so more paint on me and the neighbors house than on the bobcat. Tomorrow is the white paint. I am using the pre thinned bobcat paint and I painted the wheels with a brush. That was a hard job because that paint is so watered down. I ordered the decals set on ebay for $55 including shipping. I'll post some pics soon.

It sure will make it look better. When i did mine, i pulled it down to nothing and removed as much paint as i could from areas you could see. Engine bay was left alone, just wiped down with thinners.
All painted with 2 pack paint, there were a few runs as 2 pack was new to me....
Keep taking pictures.

The orange and charcoal came out looking fairly good yesterday. Today was a big disappointment. I would say it is one of the worst paint jobs I have ever done. I noticed the white looked kinda like skim milk in the can and thought maybe it is because of the special bobcat paint that uses xylene as it's base. I started with using half a quart in my gun and it was hard to even tell I was putting on any paint. When I poured in the rest of the quart out of the can, I saw big chunks of white muck in the bottom. Seems that the paint was old and the second quart was the same way. Trying to shake and stir didn't help it much either. I ran out before painting one side of the gear box so I used a quart of mineral sprits based rust-olem white. Didn't know what would happen when the two different types of paint overlapped but I didn't really care at this point. I will not be using bobcat brand paint again to paint anything. I will take some pics but it looks terrible in my opinion, very thin paint and not much shine.

If anything needs repainting its a Bobcat. They have the worst paint jobs of any piece of equipment I have had anything to do with. The paint is already starting to fall off my 2008 S185 and its about a quarter gone on my 2003. I drove past my old '96 853 the other day and its almost uniformly rust coloured. They should give you enough paint for a paint job with every new one you buy.

Even better, they should give you a rebate check to pay for a repaint job using a different type of paint. They make great machines but their paint supplier is the worst.

I painted my 743 last year and I went to TSC (tractor supply) and bought paint for a farm tractor. Internatoinal white, Kabota Orange, and i changed the dark grey to black, it really turned out good and so far it looks like it will hold up.

So is Bobcat poor quality or you are liable to get some OLD Bobcat paint? People are not buying Bobcat paint everyday like they do white ceiling paint at Home Depot.
