Removing kanga engine?

I just bought a kanga that needs new rings, what's the best way to get the engine out? I can see the engine is mounted on a plate which is then bolted to the chassis Should I remove the plate and engine all in one or take the engine off the plate and leave the plate attached to the chassis?

I have never worked on on, surely it can't be too hard to get it out.
I'd assume the plate and engine should come out together, or why would they have this arrangement? again, only a guess.
