Just got the rebuilt V1902 installed, it had thump in the engine back through the filter, so I had to adjust the valves before it would run right, they had not tighten the lock nut down tight enough when they rebuilt it and the lock nuts back off. It seams like it does not have the power the old v1702. Is there 1902's that have less hp, this engine has 1861cc stamp side of block? It runs good and does not smoke it just bogs down some not terrible it is noticeable. Thanks br

It shoul dhave more HP than the old one, no questions asked.
Have you changed the fuel and air filters?
I wonder if the govenor isn't working as it should.
Start with the easy stuff, filters and go from there.

Tazza I changed all filters with the engine install. How do I check the governor, also I just notice that I have black soot at the exhaust tip. That tells me that it's getting to much fuel. I wonder if I should just run a little to break in. How soon should I check the valves,or should I have to reset. Thanks br

There is a screw on the side of the timing cover with an alloy cover over it. This is used to adjust the fuel, but if you mess with it, take a reference measurement just in case you need to wind it back to that point. It is factory set, but you said it was rebuilt, they may have changed something.
