Based on the brackets, it looks like my 743 once had an opening rear window (disappeared long before I got it). Since it would be nice to keep the weather out, I want to replace it.
What's the benefits, if any, of an opening rear window (hinged at the bottom)? It looks like it will catch more debris since it is outside the cab, but perhaps the breeze would be nice on a hot day. I imagine a fixed window will be easier to install.
Thanks!

743C with side windows, but no rear or door

Most side windows (factory install) slide to open, I would think it would be hotter in the cab with 3 of the 4 sides closed. You would want to either have the sides or rear open in the summer along with the door area.
A rear window usually helps deaden noise on the newer machines, not sure about your model

I don't see may 743 that have rear window since they are kinda before the days of enclosed cabs, but my guess is the window was hindge to be used as a emergency exit. Newer units, the window will pop out if you are stuck in the machine.

Bobcatdan is 100% correct. Old windows were hinged on the outside bottom and had a latch inside at the top of the window. The glass was actually on the outside of the cab, rather than in a moulding within the opening. I found a picture somewhere of a complete one after I first asked this.

Replacing it with the newer style and moulding seems like the best option. Thanks!

Hey Karl. I was thinking about the same for my 743. Could you let us know what window you get? Thanks.
