quick lights question for 843

The first position of the light switch does not seem to do anything I can see. The second position does the gauges and front lights and the 3rd position adds the rear light. So what about the first position? The operators manual just says the light switch operates the lights.

If you have just a single rear light is it a combination red/white light? Some of them were and the extra position was for the red taillight.

Two clear lights in front and one clear light in rear. Was there ever a cab interior light? Maybe it was an option?
