That is they are gear driven from the flywheel. The lx665 uses a tandem pump with a flex plate coupler between engine and pump. I have the 665 and mine is quiet except for groans when turning. Don't buy a noisy one or you will regret it for  that 100-200 hours a year.</p></blockquote><p></p>
