Most skid steer don't have a way to let them roll. You just have brute force or lift them if they will not drive. You're not going to hurt anything by winching onto the trailer. Soapy water will help it slide up the ramps and on the trailer deck.

I don't know it this would help you, but I have jacked up dead skidsteers and put a junk car hood under the wheels and then let it slide on the hood and the tires don't turn and don't skid, the hood slides on the ground ramps and trailer. It might take some ingenuity to get a hood under all four tires but you should be able to figure something out. last time we did it it ran but not move, we put a jack under the back as far back as possible and lifted the front with the bucket and slid the hood under. they slide surprisingly well like that.

Don't know how the Toyota machines are designed but it really depends on who made the hydrostatic pumps but like I said most skid steer don't have a way to release the wheels easily. If you really can't drag it or pick it up you can disconnect the hoses to the drive motors or remove the drive chains.

Have you tried to start it where it is? If it was running 5-6 years ago I would think it should fire up if you stick a new battery in and do some minor maintenance, as long as it was in running condition when parked and the engine covered from the elements. If it's diesel I would expect it to start with a battery and maybe fuel filters. If it's a gas engine, the carb might have to be cleaned out but I bet it would be good enough to run it on a trailer. I would spend a couple hours trying to start it first, at some point you will try to start it anyway, why not now. Good luck, let us know how it goes.

I found a service manual on line in PDF format that you should be able to use to help you. Here it is. http://www.z-car.com/SDK8/Toyota_Skid_Steer_sdk6-8_repair_manual.pdf I'm sorry I can't make it a link you just click on, you will have to copy and paste in the search box to get to use it. In the manual on page 3-7 in step 5 it shows removing a "bypass valve" to rotate the axle for drive chain removal. I don't think you want to remove the chains, but if removing the valve lets you rotate the axle I would think that it would let it freewheel to be towed also, in my opinion not positive. Hope that helps. At any rate, if you don't have a manual this manual will be invaluable when you work on it, and its free! I would probably spend a couple bucks on printer ink and paper and print it off to have it handy in the shop.

Sorry I can't help much with some questions as I'm not familiar with Toyota skid steers at all. On most skids pull up on the levers to disconnect the bucket. I would assume it has a universal type quickatach and almost all I have seen lift up to detach and push down to re-attach. If you can't get it running I think I would try to locate the "HSTpurnp bypassvalve" and loosen that to tow it. Like I say I'm not at all familiar with Toyota but just a quick look in the service manual that seems to be the thing to do to tow it.

Posting to a really old thread, but might be useful info to some one ... On some Caterpillar skidsteers, the parking brakes are spring applied & hydraulically released. There is a hole or plug in the center of the brake pack cover. . I dont remember for sure, seems like a threaded rod and a forcing nut was used to release the brakes, or compress the spring for service or disassembly.
