Hi, I need a new pre-heat relay for my Bobcat 643 (Kubota D1402 engine) as it seems to be not working.

In the parts manual, that my local Bobcat dealer also referred to the pre-heat relay and the starter relay point to the same part number 6659319 (was 6632186). Is the starter relay and the pre-heat relay actually the same type of component? In my machine the two relays looks a bit different (see attached pictures).

Now Bobcat wants to charge me wooping ~USD130 for these relays and I can get the same after market solenoids at Amazon for ~USD28. I'm curious if the starter relay will work as a relay for the glow plugs that needs to be engaged a good 30 seconds or will this kill the solenoid?

The best to you all!

/Stefan :)

It is just a high voltage relay, any high voltage relay would work.
BTW "Kubota" Parts are always expensive by Bobcat because Bobcat has to pay to use the parts.
For example, the fuel shut off solenoid for the MT85/100 cost by Bobcat ~$300, by Kubota for that engine you can get that part I think for under $50.

Alrighty then I get it. The dealer actually pointed at the price when I asked if they had it in stock which I think was nice of him as he kinda already pointed in another less expensive direction ;-) I'll go with the ones at Amazon and hope the quality is okay.

Thanks a lost for your quick answer @fortworth-cowboy !

Take good care everyone 👋🏻

Don't you mean high amperage as opposed to high voltage as they're all 12v relays?

Glad to hear...I just picked up my first skidloader and its a 643 diesel too....can you tell me what relays you put in it? and was it a starter relay and the other one too?

Cool and welcome! I bought and installed two of these solenoids. One for the starter and the other one for the glow plugs. I guess any solenoid that can cope with the current/amps will do. Now, my problem was actually not the solenoid feeding my glow plugs with some juice but my ignition key switch 🤨🤣
