picked up a nice score today

i got a brand new bobcat brand 56" GP bucket for 400 bucks today. never used. paint is a little rusty from being outside in one spot but who cares? the question i have is that i can't find a serial number plate on it. i know its bobcat brand because of the color, and all of the holes for accessories like teeth, grapple, corner cutting edges etc. no other manufacturer makes them like that. what do you think? https://fbcdn-sphotos-a-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-frc3/1498073_10153706820780713_670415845_o.jpg

It looks like a good, strong bucket. I guess it really doesnt matter whether its a bobcat brand or not. Now you need to weld a chain hook on the center of the bucket between the steps. If your feeling ambitious, weld one on each corner also. You can never have too many hooks.

hooks are in the plan. i may get bolt on ones, not sure yet. i'm positive it's bobcat brand. used it today, great bucket. it has a low back for cutting edge visibility. i wanted a low profile but how could i pass up this? an LP might have been a little much for my machine anyway.

The numbers should be on the back near the quicktach plate along with an id tag for width and design.

yeah, there isnt....looking at photos of the same bucket online there isnt one either, maybe on the bottom? i dont get it.

The "foot treads" look awfully tall to be a bobcat bucket. My guess would be its a generic bucket, looks like an auction number on the far corner, lots and lots of buckets end up at auctions. Fear not though, to me a bucket is a bucket for the most part and a nice new bucket is a sweet thing to have. My old JD 70 bucket was rusted to heck, cutting edge bent and I didn't worry about water sitting in the bucket because it would just run out of the rust holes. I've seen people asking more for rusty used buckets then $400 so I'd say you did good. I have a bobcat brand 74" 4n1 combo (clam bucket). The serial tag is held on by 2 rivets and is located under the top bob-tach bar on mine.

Tell you what. Go to ebay and buy some genuine, "knock off" bobcat stickers for cheap. Paste a couple on the bucket, and erase all doubt.
