New guy here, been lurking for a while. Very impressed with the knowledge on this forum. I bought a 773 couple of weeks ago to use on my mini farm. It's in pretty good shape but it looks awful. Paint work is in it's future. Here's my question. Do I need to pull the cab to paint the loader. It sure looks like it. If so, what does the cab weigh? All I have for lift is a JD 5103 and a boom. That cab looks heavy. Appreciate any other tips from those who may have painted these things. TIA, Don

Does anyone know if the cab exceeds the 500 lb capacity of my boom? That could get exciting. TIA, Don
Have you painted much? Buy the bobcat paint. The white bobcat paint dries fast and hard. If you buy something else you'll buy thinner, harder and paint and won't really save much. Also bobcat Grey is not black. Don't paint the cab black it doesn't look right. Also get some sand able primer from any auto store. I get my decals from ebay. Just throwing some advice around. You may already know these things.

Thanks for the tips AD. I've done a lot of car painting but never a Bobcat. Kind of a whole new ball game. I'll check out the bobcat paint. I'm kind of concerned about covering the inside of the lift arms w/o removing the cab. All advice is appreciated. Thanks, Don

I just had my cab off I used a cherry picker might be clIse to 500 lbs but is not over it. I horses it around my driveway myself when I was putting it back on. Watch the suspension shock to hold it up they are a pain to put back on. I would suggest Lifting the cab and taping it off to paint machine I'm pretty picky about how mine looks and that's all I did.

Thanks for the info, SD. So I can do it w/o pulling the cab. Good to hear. I really didn't want to do that. Appreciate the tip. Thanks, Don

I'll be painting my 743 rust bucket(as my son calls it) soon. Found a post here for Bobcat orange matching paint at Lowe's, Valspar Interior/Exterior Gloss Premium Enamel Hacienda Tile pn#351822, color# 2010-4. About $4 a can.
