Had the shaft coupling on the variable driven side machined from scratch. Been keeping the variable drive system alive by throwing repairs at it as usual. This time the initial problem was started by loss of bolts on the coupling during operation. By the time I discovered it, was too late. Quick fix was sleeving the ruined side of the shaft coupling, replacing all 6 bolts with grade 8 /w nylon lock nuts, but eventually the slop chewed the grade 8 right into the coupling casting. As always I have a ton of pics of everything, hence my post. I'm betting there's someone else out there balls deep in am old skid steer that could use the pics of the process. This repair is specific owatonna 1200, but applies to melrose, jd24, and original bobcat; machines with junkie variable drive systems. The email for the pics is [email protected] just let me know what your working on and which repair you want to see.
