So i bought an old 643 that didn't run. It just turns over and no fire. So far I have replaced the battery, injectors, and glow plugs. I drained the fuel tank and refilled with good fuel. Im getting fuel to the injectors but still no start. I tried ether straight into the intake still nothing. When it turns over I get a little smoke. Also when I crank the starter for a little bit the positive lead starts to smoke. Any help?!? Thank you guys!

if its new to you id do a compresion test. start with easy stuff. look for extra switches that dont look factory. maybe someone has installed a shutoff somewhere else on it or a positive air shutoff. other than that im not a diesel expert so dont have alot for ya. if compresion checks out chances are it could be something real simple. is there a distributor on a diesel engine? if so maybe the little diode inside is toast. no spark. check all wire leads. as for the battery wire when i got my 720 the previouse dude had hooked it up backwards. took me some damage to figure that one out.

Smoking starter isn't good.
grab the right stick and pull it to the left and let it spring back. This is to pop it out of detent mode if it was put in there. This will load the engine down and make sarting hard if it was engaged. Possibly why the sarter smoked.
If the ether makes no difference, not even a pop, do a compression test, it sounds like it may be very low
