So i just bought an old 843 to use on some land in Northern AZ for general cleaning and stuff. I picked up a pretty rough grapple bucket as well. I hooked it up today and i am having a hard time figuring out how to work it. it is my undersatandin that the Aux hyd control is in the right hand steer stick and by pushin it to the side it controls the Aux. Well it seems to work but only in one direction. I can open the bucket but it won't close. it I reverse the hyd lines on the bucket it will close but not open. Anyone know what i am doing wrong. The stick only seems to have a one direction function. Also There is a flat pedal in the center of the floor whicj seems to do nothing. any idea what it is supposed to do? Thanks for any help.

The pedal in the middle is your park brake. Tip it forward to lock, back to unlock. Yours is probably out of adjustment if it does nothing.
It sounds like your aux lever connections are loose or worn. It should work in both directions. Check that the slook on the control block moves in and out when you move the lever, you can adjust the linkage to lengthen or shorten its travel.

Well we tipped the cab and low and behold the previous owner had placed a bolt in the linkage to disable the Aux. Probably to keep from working the pump by accident during normal operation.

The bolt is installed when new and only removed when the aux are needed.
