my bobcat kept shutting down ; took it to dealer twice ; it cost $7500 that I had to borrow ;they said they don,t know , wait till it quits. been 2 years , its still shutting down. After 30 years of dealing with them I,d get better response.
It definitely sounds as if it is electrical related. I'd suggest inspecting all of the wiring & connections to the battery, starter, engine, sensors & at the key switch, too. I am going to guess that you will find either a loose wire (or more than one) or corrosion that is interfering with it operating properly. The fuel shut down solenoid could be it, but so could a piece of plastic in the fuel tank that gets sucked up to the pick up tube. If you can give ANY more info (model number, year, etc) that will help out to help you out. What happens after it dies, will it start straight away?
Thinking the fuel shut off solenoid or wiring to it.
I also would not agree to pay the dealer (or anyone for that matter) if they can not guarantee that they will be able to fix it or anything at all. Sorry to hear that you spent that much money & got so little in return. It almost sounds as if the machine was in that bad of shape that they felt replacing / repairing what they actually did would help the situation or they simply saw you as too "juicy of a bone" to pass up. If money is that tight, then I think buying another machine would have been more of a guaranteed / safer move on your part. I do still sympathize with your situation & the outcome of your machine. Keep your head up & as soon as it breaks for good, it should 1,000 times easier to repair. It definitely sounds as if it is electrical related.
