I just had engine rebuilt on a 763 but the valves seemed to be noiser than I remember. I put on a gauge on oil pressure and is about 40 lbs so not the problem. I ran the valves and all were in correct specs. I think this has solid lifters so is that what is the problem or is it me. It has the v2203 engine. Any suggestions

My suggestion- get hold of whoever rebuilt the engine, have him/her listen to it, remind him/her that you expect the engine to give long, trouble free service and then ask- "does this sound OK to you, or do you need to rework something?"

depending how tight torerances were made it might need to wear in just a bit, the old engine might have been a bit quiter because of being well weared in . have you taken a metal rod to your ear and try listing around the engine to see where it is loudest?
