Have an 873 that has been working fine for many years. Shut it down normally the other day and now when I fired it up I have no lowering capability. I checked this forum and purchased the repair manual online and have gone over most tests that can be done without specialty software. It has BICS and AHC. It will lift fine and tilt but as soon as I go to lower it everything goes dead and I get the 5 flash signal on the left handle. The manual points to actuator failure but i have traced all wires in the harness (I think), replaced the handle solenoid and nothing. If I shut it down and then restart and press the activate button it will work again until I go to lower and then i get the same response all over again. As any farmer would do I tried a test not in the book by changing the plugs on the actuators around and with the raise/lower actuator on the right handle it will lift and lower fine but then on the left the tilt will work one way but go into the 5 flash mode again when I try to tilt it the other way. I cant see it being the actuator since they both work when controlled by the right handle. Since I never got a fix by changing the handle solenoid Im stumped. Any ideas out there? I read somewhere there is an upgrade kit for the AHC system that eliminates much of the electronics. Is that true?
