Greetings I just recently upgraded to a new Holland 220 with the Tier 4 motor. It has all the bells and whistle‘s. There is currently 5600 hours on the machine. It was Maintained at a dealership and used on a dairy farm. Everything seems to be working fine. I was a bit concerned about the hours being high but was told you could get over 10,000 hours on this machine. I really have no idea this is only my second machine. My first one was a 1993 L445 that had $3700 and was still running fine when I sold it. I would appreciate if anyone has heard of or has an L220 with a very high hours notice still running good. Thank you all for your answers in advance.

Honestly, i don't see you getting 10,000 hours from the engine, if the hydraulics are maintained, sure, you'll get more than 10,000 hours. There was a member on here that was servicing a machine with i thought, 20,000 and was on it's 3rd or so engine.
Generally, motors do 6,000 hours before they start to get lazy and harder to start. With that said, i did have one with 6,500 hours. It was hard to start, but when it was going, it would run all day long. It was so hard to start, the previous owner burnt the glow plugs because it needed long hot glows. New plugs helped, but it still took a bit.
Enjoy your machine!

Personal experience: our LX865 has about 5.6K hours. She starts fine, even in cold weather, and doesn’t have any problems. That being said, late 2017 or early 18, can’t remember, the engine had some issues with the fuel delivery system. The lines to and from the pump would get plugged and the machine would be down the entire day. I think that with the newer machines, minus all of the electronics and wiring, if you maintain it, the machine should last. Like Tazza pointed out, it’s around the 6-7K hour mark that you’ll usually need an engine overhaul. We also have a L228, i have too little hours on the machine to give you a opinion that would satisfy the machines actual capabilities and reliability.
