I pushed the machine probably a little harder than I should have into some hard ground and heard a "snap". It sounded like a bolt broke or maybe a swivel pin or boss broke. I backed up and the tilt would not come up. I had to lower the boom while backing the machine up to get the bucket to lay flat and when I lift the boom the bucket hangs down in the dumped position. I looked everything over and can see no broken swivel pins, swivel pin holes or anything broken mechanically so am looking into the hydraulics. There are no unusual hydraulic fluid leaks, the level is still up where it should be, and the rest of the machine is working, including the boom which uses the same control valve. The return on the rams for the tilt just won't work. I have traced the rams return hydraulic line back to a solenoid valve right before the control valve that operates both the boom and bucket tilt. (These are located by your left foot at the bottom front of the cab if you are setting in the cab, behind a sheet metal cover plate.) The solenoid valve coil is strongly magnetic when 12v power is connected to the two leads. An identical valve is also used on the boom side of the same control valve. When energizing/de-energizing the coil on the two valves, the boom one makes a distinct "click", while the one for the bucket tilt is more muffled and not nearly as loud. Here are my questions: 1- I assume the solenoid valve is normally closed and opens when power is applied? Anyone know? 2- When these valves fail mechanically, could that be the cause of the problem with the tilt? Would/could that cause a restriction of the hydraulic fluid? I guess a safety lockout valve should be designed to fail closed, right? 3- Could running the bucket harder than typical into the hard ground have caused a valve to fail? (I would just like to avoid the problem again if this is a likely cause.) 4- Could it be the control valve? If so how would I check it? 5- Anyone had any experience with a NH L785 in this area? Any feedback would be helpful. ANY thoughts or ideas would be greatly appreciated!</p></blockquote><p></p>
