i recently bought an old machine that is supposed to run/ran when parked. i dont have an operators manual and would like to know what each lever is for. as i sit in the machine on my right hand is the gas /engine speed control with a round ball handle. and choke behind my right foot. what does stick lever on right control? also what does longer/taller stick lever on left and shorter lever control?? it is still on my trailer and dont want to have a wreck getting it off. this sounds really elementary but i have never operated this king of machine. also what do foot pedals control, if anything? thanks bh

Thanks for posting the location for the manuals. I just got a M610 that had been sitting for 8 years and before that was a rental so it has been badly neglected. I am loathing the prospect of removing the engine (I already removed the starter....not fun) but I think in order to properly service it and to repaint the poor thing I will need to perform this task.a I am told the engine was rebuilt in the past but I have serious doubts of that. I saw your other post where you removed yours about a year ago. Can you give me any more details about the step by step process you took. I particular you mentioned you had to remove one of the motor mounts. Which one? I'm sure these details will help me tremendously in my rebuild. Best regards. Glenn.

Glenn, the only reason I had so much trouble and had to remove the engine mount was because I could not remove the variable sheave from the engine. (Thats the big pulley that drives the belt). If you can remove the sheave then the rest of the job is pretty straight forward and the engine will come out pretty easily. (If you dont have an engine hoist/crane on wheels then I suggest you hire one).
My 610 had sat unused in salty sea air for 10 years before I got it so the sheave was just about welded to the engine. Normally with a suitable puller and some heat the sheave comes off OK before you remove the engine. You need to read the manual carefully about the procedure. Its absolutely essential that you do not hit or apply pressure to the 'plate' of the sheave. They are cast steel and can be quite brittle. And they dont make them anymore!
