G'day all,
I am new to this forum and Skid steers.
We recently bought a 100acre lot in rural nsw australia (Sofala) with the intention of hobby farming and somewhere for weekend escapes with the kids.
It has nothing on it. No house, no shed, no telephone, no water no power - no worries.
We plan to build a small sustainable cabin/house from rammed earth (google it). With no facilities we have decided to build with solar power, compost toilet, rain water etc
This has already meant that I have been given the nickname of 'green boy' at work, don't get me wrong, i'm no hippy. Baths are an important part of life.
I find rammed earth fascinating so decided to build a rammed earth chook (hen) house as a test. I can't figure out how to post a picture????
anyway, I built it by hand and it is hard yakka (very hard work), especially in 35degC heat, but very satisfying and a good result.
So this has become a perfect excuse to buy tools, starting with an old Case 1830 on ebay, I sprung that one on the wife and we are still married (just). I now have two high maintenance toys...(you can tell she cannot read this).
I then found this forum, which is fantastic.
I am gradually building up the equipment i'll need, most of it from Ebay. I reckon it will be the house that 'ebay' built.

PS: If you are wondering what my user tag means - I am an Electrician and it is an electrical term. It has however been misread as Therma 'Lover' load and thermal-overlord.
