Hey all!
Found this forum after having been a member of TractorByNet for a few years.
I'm casually looking to buy my first skid steer or mini-skid. Thought I'd better join and start learning. Still not sure what will be more useful on my newly acquired 34 acres in North Alabama. Currently I have an undersized tractor (Kioti CX2510HST tractor/loader/backhoe) that I may upgrade at a later point, or just buy a second bigger tractor. (I used to have an old Ford 881 when I lived in Ohio up until 2020.) But I'm starting to see a tracked skid steer could be extremely useful. Also considering an old dozer or an old mini-excavator. I have a lot of land, both (small) mountain-side and valley (flat but very rough/rutted) to clear and smooth, trails to make, and driveway to maintain. Lots to think about.
Anyway, in case you haven't figured it out, I'm also Santa Claus all year round.
My wife and I are planning to build our southern North Pole Outpost on the 34 acres in a couple years or so.
I am a Youtube mechanic, ie I do a lot of my own maintenance with the help of Youtube. I don't particularly like maintaining equipment as I much prefer to use it than work on it, but it's a necessary evil I'm becoming better at with time.
Look forward to learning from you all.
