I have the ls 160, but they are pretty much identical. The JD version run the the Yanmar engines instead of the Iswajimma/ N844, not sure on the lx565. But other then a few minor refinements not much has changedI just bought a 99 lx565, so I would.

The 160 and the 565 both use the N844 from Shibaura there are very few differences in the units and the differences are only cosmetic. Same thing BC did with the 773g turbo to the S185 same machines different stickers.Mine has the N844.
the 565 has a seperate housing for the final reduction gears and the 160 does not is one difference. The 160 and the 565 both use the N844 from Shibaura there are very few differences in the units and the differences are only cosmetic. I've owned both and immed. noticed that the 160 has thinner guage metal on most panels such as engine housing and body panels. The main consequence of this is when backing and accidentaly "kissing" a tree with the door to the engine compartment, I have to realign the door by loosening the mounting bolts in order to be able to open and close the door. This only happened ONCE in 10 years with the 565 which had sign. thicker metal.I have the ls 160, but they are pretty much identical. It shows my running weight as 5395 pounds with a 175 pound man, what is the 170?I've owned both and immed. noticed that the 160 has thinner guage metal on most panels such as engine housing and body panels. Also, the "service" toggle switch on the 565 is not present on the 160 and required the purchase of an accessory board (>$200.00) to be able to put the machine in "service" mode.
Disappointing!!
My 565 was essentially identical to the 160. Makes me wonder why the 160 wasn't sign. lighter with its thinner metal in many places?!It shows my running weight as 5395 pounds with a 175 pound man, what is the 170?
