Hey guys, new member here,I searched briefly and didn't see my question. 2 questions here sort of I suppose.I've got a 1998 lx885,it's got 8,xxxhrs or so on it and had some serious blowby so I rebuilt the motor and had the heads worked over, took about two months(the machinist took forever)Got the motor back in and when i connected the battery the machine started beeping on its own like the key was turned. Before the rebuild the display would light up when you sat in the seat, then after you turned the key it would beep and give a countdown...now the display is lit up on its own and it beeps constantly without even sitting in it and the key in the off position/run/service switch in the run position. Figured baaah whatever it'll work itself out and I went ahead and primed the fuel system. Got good fuel to the injectors and tried to get it to run with no avail, I even tried using a rag soaked in 2stroke mix over the filter,it ran for about 10 seconds and backfired, caught the rag on fire and I couldn't get it to pop off again. I even straight wired the fuel shutoff just to be sure that wasn't being hinkey. I'm going to get back out to the shop later this week and fiddle with it but I was wondering if anyone has had similar issues and what their fix/fixes may have been. Thanks guys!

That isn't ideal at all, I wonder if it just has not primed the injector lines all the way to the injectors and the running was it just burning the fuel vapors from the rag.

I'd say that's probably correct, however all 3 lines were off the engine and dry 100% and now have fuel at least to the injectors...I did notice a drip of fuel from the primary clear bowl maybe every 5mins or so while I was tinkering, think maybe it's pulling enough air there to not deliver proper pressure? It's before the injection pump so I would assume it might not run 100% proper but should still start or attempt to wouldnt you think? Making that an issue but not a primary cause... I'm not sure I've never had that be a major issue unless it was leaking bad. On another note I saw deep in the forums where someone expirenced the beeping and strange Eic issues due to a faulty hydro sensor. In my case,I had drained the fluid from all lines and cooler so it would need to build pressure again...is there a better way to prime the hydro system other than just filling it and turning the engine over? Again,I'm messing with it later on this week, just kind of open dialog spit balling before I jump on it again ????

I'd like to think that the small drip won't be the cause of the issue. Diesels can be very fussy about air free fuel delivery, any air pockets will stop the fluid from being pumped.
Do you have a way to give it extra fuel pressure? like a hand primer? squeeze it while it's being cranked and see if it gets it running.
