Oh on last bit of info, it was running fine and just shut down however the previous owner stated the oil was low and I found the hydraulic fluid low. He also stated there were no loud knocks or rattles when it stopped and described the shut down as he was driving and it sputtered and died like the fuel shut off. Please advise.
Hello, I just purchased a LX665 that had quit running and I am working on sorting it out. I was hoping for soft fix however it seems to leaning toward a hard fix. I have checked and tested all the electric and everything seams to be good including fuel delivery. The motor turns over and will puff black smoke however will not fire. I have changed the glow plugs and even did a bypass to heat them and still motor will not fire. I have given it a quick snort of starting fluid and it will hit harder (does not lock)but again the engine will not start. I did attempt a compression test when glow plugs were out and each cylinder does have pressure but I was not able to get reading with the equipment I have so I placed a finger over each hole and seemed like plenty of pressure and fuel mixture was being blasted back. Is it possible for the timing to be off just a smidge without wrecking the top end. Before I tear the entire motor down does anyone have advice on possible easy fix that I may be overlooking. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Just an old farm boy trying to make things work :-)
