A friend of mine has a New Holland L553 skid steer, unsure on what year it is. But he is having issues with the seat belt safety switch, it is kind of hit and miss, sometimes you can get in it and buckle up and the seat belt light will turn off on the light panel, but then you can be using it for a while and it will turn back on, disabling the bucket and boom. So then you have to un-buckle and buckle back up a few times to get the light to turn back off or other times you have to get up and sit back down and try that several times to get it to work again. Recently I started tapping on the Electronic Controller Unit, black safety box to the right of the seat, and that seemed to make it work again and the light would turn off and I could resume work again. So I'm just wondering it anyone else has had similar issues and what they did, or if the electronic controller unit is what is work, hoping not as where I found it for sale it was almost $700. Or is there a way to just bypass it or eliminate it. Also, the safety switch within the seat belt itself has been replaced with no difference in results. Serial Number on the unit is 831592 if that helps any. Thank You.

Chances are that there is just a corroded connector at the controller box, check all the plugs / wire connectors going to it for frayed / barely hanging on or corrosion resistance. It won't take much so it won't look like a furry battery terminal; often just unplugging and reconnecting will solve it.
Me personally, I hate all that poxy safety stumbling blocks and would probably whip up a dongle that fed it the signal it wanted to work.

Thanks for the input, is there a way to take that controller box apart to see if anything inside it is loose or needs cleaned? Not very inclined with electrical stuff and didn't want to start taking things apart without knowing what I was doing. Thanks.

When I got my l555 it did the same thing. The seat was crap so I replaced the seat. It had 2 seat switchs so I put new ones in. Still had some problems with belt so I just replaced the belt and everything has been good since. If you need to replace the seat switch get it from Grasshopper as it is much cheaper. Good luck.
