The relay is good, the battery is verified fully charged, I've cleaned the terminals, etc. About a month ago I was able to get it started by tapping on the starter motor, so I'm pretty sure I should replace it. How can I get it started so I can move the machine a short distance and get the boom lifted up?

I've read you can connect the positive battery wire to the solenoid screw on the starter motor with a screwdriver, I'm a bit hesitant to do that since I can't find any good info/pictures of where exactly those contact points should be. It'd be a big help if any of you all had a clear set of instructions (or better yet pictures) of where to stick the screwdriver. Don't want to melt my battery or anything! Photo of the crusty old motor below. Thanks

, first off, when you say battery is fully charged, that doesn't mean its a GOOD,
it needs to be load tested,

I know its hard to remove with boom down, but it is possible if needed,

I might suggest you try adding some jumper cables to a know good battery and see if that helps, get it to crank ,
over time wires running to starter can get corroded UNDER the insulation, causing power flow and grounding issues,
so I would check connections for good contacts and or corrosion, and what voltage is getting to starter , and fuse box as well!

you might be able to move the machine, by having someone sit inside and push hand controls in direction you want it to go, while its being pulled by another machine, allowing you to move it to a better location to manually lift boom? if you cannot get it to start ,

Good info, thanks. I don't have a load tester, but may try and pull the battery to bring it somewhere. I had jumper cables on the battery w/ the other ends connected to a truck w/ a good battery, let that sit and charge for a while, and even w/ the truck running and cables connected, all that turning the key in the skidsteer would do was cause a single click, no cranking, no turning over. Everything else in the cab works normally, lights come on, horn honks strong and loud.

Do you mean connect a good battery directly to the starter w/ jumper cables, completely bypassing the existing battery and the wires connecting it to the starter?
