My rear left drive is leaking. I need to replace the seal. I was told I have the later model. it has a rather large nut on the wheel. I was told all I have to do is remove the nut and hub to fix it, has anyone else ever done this and how hard is it to loosen the nut and get the hub off. The manual I have doesn't show the large nut, don't know if anyone would have a photo of one that shows that and explains how to do it. I never have worked on bobcats before, all input is appreciated. Thanks

You should be able to see a large nut in the center of the hub. The older ones had one piece axle and hubs and to replace a seal it had to come off the sprockets inside and slide out.
There is a book in the manual thread for the 743B that should have good pictures, it's a much easier process but you will need some pretty substantial pullers to get the hub off if it's taken a set.

your are correct. there is a large nut on the oustside of the rim. what did you use to get it loose. I have a 3/4 socket . thanks for the reply.

I just used a socket, bar and a length of pipe to loosen them, wind it out a turn or two then wedge two hydraulic bottle jucks behind the hub and chain case to push on the hub, keep the pump parts at the bottom to ensure you don't try and pump air.
When you tighten them up, beat on the bolt head with a hammer, it shold crack the taper seal on the axle and hub.
If i find pictures of this, i'll post them

I cant find any photos on the net except the earlier ones. so if you pull the hub off is there just a seal or a bearing to. if you find those photos I would appreciate if you could send them to my email [email protected]. I surely haven't been able to find them on the net. thanks norm

I'll see if i can find them for ya.
Behind the hub will be a seal, behind it will be a bearing. If it's just a bad seal, drill a hole in it and screw in a self tapping screw and lever the old seal out.
