I'm about to begin a landscaping project at my house. I'll need to dig footings for about 400' of block wall, rip out existing blockwalls, and remove a concrete pool deck. I also have to regrade the whole yard. So i'm thinking of buying a used bobcat and a backhoe attachment for the job, but I know nothing about either. How large of a machine will I need to sufficiently run the backhoe? It needs to have auxilliary hydraulics to run the backhoe, correct? Does HF designate high flow, and what is the reason for the high flow? Thanks

I am not much of a fan of the backhoe attachment but many others are , I'd suggest two machines a S 160 or S185 and a 328 excavator , nice size for what you want to do ---------if you want a backhoe attachment , I know where there is one here in New Orleans and it was usd very little and I'd bet you could get t pretty cheap

Fish, not to change the subject but, how is business in your area?. It's still slow around here.

Well I'd rather have a mini ex if money was no object, but I do like my backhoe attachment.
It has dug stumps and rock that otherwise would still be there. I have pulled boulders up to 36” dia out of the ground with it. (773 could not carry it once loose) Not to mention trenching for water and electrical. If only one machine is in the budget I highly recommend skidsteer with a hoe attachment. I used it to terrace into a side hill while building a road down a hill with a slope of 40 degrees. I could have never done the job without a hoe
When I dug the additional basement for our home addition I hired a 320 cat ex to come do that though. The bobcat could have done it in 2 to 3 days in my estimate but the big hoe was there 4 hours.
