i need a starter for my bobcat, and this just came on... http://boston.craigslist.org/nos/for/3614351180.html seems like a real good deal. thanks guys
just arrived to a completely dead bobcat, no lights or anything could this be a symptom of dead starter? The loader parts source website says it fits.

More likely to be a bad battery cable, corroded connection or even a bad battery.just arrived to a completely dead bobcat, no lights or anything could this be a symptom of dead starter?
I'd doubt it, more like a battery or cable. I'd try jumping the starter, if it kicks, it's a wiring issue to the dash, if not, starter or battery/wiring.just arrived to a completely dead bobcat, no lights or anything could this be a symptom of dead starter?
worked fine the last few days tapping the starter. today nothing at althe starter was arching when starting the last few days. if I left the key on would that kill the batteryin a day?I'd doubt it, more like a battery or cable. sorry for poor grammar, thats my cell phone haha. i hope i left the key on. either way i know it needs a starter. i bought this one, btw. barely used for a 100 bucks. bobcat wanted 400.
I'd check that the battery is ok, leaving the ignition on can drain the battery, but this model didn't have a fuel shu off solenoid that i'm aware of, if it did, i can see it draining.sorry for poor grammar, thats my cell phone haha. i hope i left the key on. either way i know it needs a starter. i bought this one, btw. barely used for a 100 bucks. bobcat wanted 400.
no fuel shut off, i have to do it manually. like i said when trying to start the last week or so the starter was arcing like a bastard. i think it's the starter. the positive battery terminal goes right to the starter.I'd check that the battery is ok, leaving the ignition on can drain the battery, but this model didn't have a fuel shu off solenoid that i'm aware of, if it did, i can see it draining.
I'm not sure where you live, but there is a auto electric service locally that will rebuild a starter the same day if you can get it in first thing in the morning. I had the starter rebuilt on my previous bobcat for around $60. Even if it took a few days if the place was real busy its still a cheaper/faster route that ordering and waiting for shipping. I was impressed when walked in and set the starter on the counter. The guy looked at the starter and said: "642 bobcat". I said, "you have been working here way too long".no fuel shut off, i have to do it manually. like i said when trying to start the last week or so the starter was arcing like a bastard. i think it's the starter. the positive battery terminal goes right to the starter.
thanks for the responses guys. i ended up buying this one...at 100 bucks it was a steal. my bobcat starts SO much stronger and quicker now than it has since i have owned it. the new starter is also far quieter. it sounds like a new machine when it starts up.I'm not sure where you live, but there is a auto electric service locally that will rebuild a starter the same day if you can get it in first thing in the morning.
