Thinking about buying a mulcher flail mower for my hitachi zx30u/2. Has anyone here had any experience with mulchers on hitachi/ john deere or airman excavators or any other brands of around the 3 ton size?

a friend of ours down the road bought one for their 337 bobcat excavator. havent heard of him having any issues with it.

I have been wanting one also but can`t stomach the $6000. like the ones on ebay.what was the brand you are looking at? I just bought a toro 4500d rough cut mower (golf coarse) that has 5 26" finish mower decks that are hyd. driven. my plan is to make one fit my 331. I realize it wont be for heavy brush but I have about 1/2 mile of 10' hi bank along the road that the twp. doesn`t cut very much of and I am getting to old to weed wack. I figured I will make one and if it works good maybe make a couple to sell or just sell the decks for someone to make there own. these have 2 big hyd. hoses and one small. any idea what the small is for? the mowers on ebay say you have to add a tank drain line on a bobcat ,could that be what this is for?

Fecon on Cats and Takeuchi but always on machine 8 tons or more , you talking 3 ton mulcher head or a three ton machine , 3 ton machine would be like an over sized weed eater

ok finally getting around to installing this mower to see if it works.I have to install a case drain as the mower has 3 lines to it. has anyone ever done this? can I go back to the filter and tap in there instead of at the case itself? isnt one of the filters on the return side? could I just T a line ?

If your machine doesn't have a case drain line at the couplers, i can't see why you can't tap in. Ideally a line that goes directally to the reserve tank.

ok ,I talked to the guy (skid steer solutions) that sells the terra mowers on ebay and he said they just finished testing and they no longer require the return for bobcats.I dont know what to do now. I got hoses and hooked it up and it runs fine and when you stop(let of switch) just a dribble comes out the third hose. I would think maybe more would come out if it was stopped while switch was engaged ? I got a quick exchange mount from bobcat to weld on it and it should be ready to try out.

The case drain lines shouldn't have much flow, you will get more when the motor is under load though.
