Hello everyone. My boss got an mt85, it says first oil change at 50hrs, this thing has 200 already, never changed oil yet and it's really bothering me. What type of oil does this thing take? And can anyone tell me Wix part number for the filter please? Also where is the fuel filter located? It says to empty it every 50hrs or whatever. I've worked on cars plenty but never a skid steer. Do I need to drive up on some 2x6s or can I just do it all on the ground? I'm assuming the plate on the bottom unbolts and from there I drain the oil, there is a plate on the side where the filter sits? Basically asking for any guidance about oil change and other maintenance for a brand spanking new bobcat. I'd hate to see this kitty get ruined because my boss is too busy working Thanks

That oil must be totally contaminated with dust/sand, as well as the metal specs from a new engine break in? And it's normal that it has a hard time turning on hard surfaces, right?

As a rule, any good 15w-40 diesel oil should be fine, unless you're in some extreme climate like Death valley at +40C or Yellowknife at -40C.
Since it's new, there should be an operation and general maintenance manual with it, that should pinpoint the service points. If it's not available, there is one for a Mt55 on ManuaslLib.
Looking at the online specs, it appears that this was designed with serviceability in mind, so one shouldn't have to take it halfway apart to do simple tasks.
And they do struggle more on hard surfaces, they have to overcome the traction. If there is room, make arcing turns rather than pivots, far less bouncy and saves wear on the tracks, less pavement marking, etc.

On any new motor, early oil changes are key to a long life. You are right to be concerned, you can never wash all the trash out during assembly, the oil cleans out the stuff that was missed.
I know of the motors i have done, be it car or skid steer, i have changed the oil early to make sure it's as clean as possible.
