I am new to the forum. I feel like a pup trying to run with the big dogs. I have a mini skid steer that is ran by a 23hp gasoline engine. The hydraulic cooling fan has a switch on my control panel that allows the fan to be turned on and off when needed. Would I need to run the cooling fan constantly? The hydraulic lines run through a small radiator that the fan is attached too. The reason I ask, is because when I use the fan it really draws down my battery. I appreciate any suggestions. Thanks

I would say that you need to find out what temp. the hydro system is supposed to run at and install a temp. gauge for a reference as to when the fan needs to operate.

What us the MFR of this unit you described? Air cooled Engine? Such as Onan? It this a factory fan or an add on? Lets say it's air cooled. Try cleaning the engine of dirt Grease, and so on. If not air cooled then it is possible the fan was added due to overheating hard to say based on your information.

Well I did some checking on these and chances are it is a factory hyd fan. If your fan is Hydraulic then the only thing your switch does is engage the fan selenoid. If it is fully electric fan then maybe the engine charging circuit is not charging enough and needs attention. My old case 1818 is an air cooled enging has the hyd lines and radiator but no fan to cool them. Works good So again what is it you have then let the others chime in. Good Luck!
