So with more research, I thought some needles/leaves had collected in engine bay and burned to cause a melted hole in the airbox. I rotated the cover and tried running the machine again (since the hole is pre-filter), and it melted again in the same radial location (about at 2 o-clock when looking at the airbox. Does anyone have an idea of what may cause this? I ordered a new airbox but do not want another melted airbox in a week.... I'm a bit lost!? Chris

Sounds like ether a heat shield is missing or you have a exhaust leak. The dealer that you ordered the new box from can print you out some parts diagrams to see if you're missing something.

I too think it could be an exhaust leak. Is there soot around the hole? Hopefully you can patch the holes with epoxy, cheap and easy to fix. You just need to fix the cause of the holes appearing first.
