Hi all, My Deutz diesel just died. Need to repower. ( does not need to be diesel ) anyone put new engine in the 611, I see the kits for the 610 but don't know if they are the same. Called small engine and they did not know anything about the 611. Any advice would be appreciated. Originally was looking at the Vanguard. Then saw the Harbor freight posts. Don't use it commercially just around the property.

Sorry did not open up question with Introduction. This was my Dads bobcat that I use on property. Kind of a sad day last week when it blew the motor. Did not think it would ever die. Been reading up on options to repower it. It is the 611 Deutz Diesel. anyone know if it has the tapered shaft or the straight shaft. Thinking of having motor pulled to see if the vanguard or predator motor will fit. Also really don't want to lose the varible speed. anyone have any experience with the 611. Is it just the 610 with a diesel engine?

I think you're right, the 611 is a 610 with a diesell.
I did think it had a tapered shaft, but if you put a vanguard in, you could either get an adaptor or a machine shop to bore it out to accept a more commin keyed shaft
