Melroe 500 Main Drive Belt Replacement

Hello. I am having trouble fitting the new drive belt over the front pulley. It seems like the belt is too small but is same that came off. Any suggestions? TIA

Depending if you have a split or one piece jackshaft, the book says 1.5 to 5 hours, has two pages of steps to go through.
Can't remember if that book is in the manual thread here, or over at the facebook Melroe group, but it's worth getting it to refer to.
