I have an M 600. It started failing to turn well, so I adjusted the clutch on the right side. Eventually, it simply quit responding to the right lever at all. 1) Is there a clutch that needs to be replaced? I took off the side panel, but really can't tell. 2) Where can I find parts for that? Thanks BIll

Take a look on ebay there is a used clutch assembly for sale with great pics that will help you not sure about where to find them

Yes there's clutch disc that needs to be replaced. They are still available from Bobcat for around $30. Part number 6649871.

Just a note…..there are other reasons that steering will fail but as OldMachinist stated the #1 cause is clutch lining (disc). It is an easy repair, ...however, ……from your description, I would not be surprised that you will find that you have damaged the inner or outer (or both) clutch plates. They are highly polished surfaces and any damage to their surfaces will prematurely wear replacement 'linings' (hours in some cases). As was previously stated, there are some serviceable assemblies available on e-bay at this time. Upon inspection, should you determine that the 'clutch assembly' is in good order, my second choice would be the spindle nut (#17 in exploded view) loosening. A loose spindle nut will allow the shaft to turn so the actuating nuts do not function. That nut requires 225 foot pounds and is a more complicated repair as it requires very specific positioning of the actuating nuts. Investment in a manual would be advised.

My apologies …. That nut is #17 in my Bobcat Shop Manual….it is #23 on OldMachinists' version. Also…..there are lead washers required on that shaft that often need replaced. I'm sure they are out there but I have never taken the time to find a source other then Bobcat.
