I am looking for a new drive belt for my 444 and wonder if anyone has specs on the belt # 6504510 vs. 6515271? My manual shows 6504510 and 6515271. are they interchangeable? The one on my machine is 6504510 and of course I can't find any for sale anywhere. Thanks

Yes…..with your machine you need the #6504510……..One is slightly longer then the other. As I recall, all other specs were the same. I'll do some digging and see if I can find the exact difference for you.

#6515271 Length 62 1/2" …………… #6504510 Length 58 1/2" My memory didn't serve me well……that's NOT a "slight" difference.

This sounds like a question for Buddy……..contact him and let us know what he has to say. I'd be interested in his response.

You are correct on the different lengths of the belts. I need the shorter one of course :( As for Buddy, I've been pawned off to another chap named Joe Keller. Turns out his father and uncle are the ones who invented the first skid steers back in the late 40's. He live only an hour away from me and has a huge collection of old skids and lots of parts. I'm heading down to meet him tomorrow to get a new drive shaft for my 444. I'm going with a straight shaft that way I can put my drive pulley where it needs to be and not be confined to where the taper is.

That would be a trip I'd love to tag along with……..I'll bet he's a wealth of information. You probably already know this but your jackshaft sheave/pulley will not fit on a straight shaft……unless they have told you a way to make it work.

yup, I'll be giving him my pulleys and I will get the whole straight shaft set up( axle, pulleys, spring, etc.) I'm looking forward to picking his brain and looking through all the old skids.

I couldn't figure out how to PM so I'll just put his number here. Buddy's service and supply, Milnor ND 701-427-5460, I think his name is actually Bob. Gearbox drop me a line at [email protected], I have been working with another gentleman who has many new and used parts and several parts machines. He was the one to get me the correct jackshaft for my machine. I only have his personal number so I don't want to post it publicly.
